105E Anglia Rod

Words & photos - Daniel Bevis

Wheels Day might have been a bit of a washout this year, but it was worth going for this car alone. What you're looking at, in essence, is a unique take on the hot-rod formula comprising a heavily reworked Anglia 105E body, an early-'50s Anglia nose, and a modern-ish BMW engine - specifically, a 16v four-pot from a 1990 318is. The attention to detail is phenomenal - the more you look, the more natty features you unearth; the tail-lights are ace, as is the central roof-mounted brake light in its fluted housing, the drilled boot hinges, the lights on the front bulkhead, the gorgeous seats, the 2CV headlights... it all speaks of a huge amount of effort and consideration. And it's really going to irritate some people too, which makes it all the more fun. Bravo!
