Fellows Splittie

Words & photos - Daniel Bevis

There's a lot you can do with a splitscreen VW - the size alone gives a lot of options - and you can pretty much name your budget and see what happens. Just open your wallet and let the ideas fall out.
In the case of this particularly straight blue panel van from Fellows Speed Shop, it appears that the brief was 'put everything in it, and make it all very shiny'.
The level of detail is frankly astonishing. The interior is clearly focusing more on being a lounge than living accommodation, with artfully trimmed leather benches and a massive telly, while up front everything's a little more plush than its utilitarian roots might suggest. Hanging out back is a racily tuned Subaru flat-four, and there's a period chromed air-conditioner to keep things honest.
There's clearly a mind-boggling amount of work behind this van - and if you've got a thick enough wallet, you could probably convince them to build you one. Click here, they're very keen on Subaru swaps...
