The Datsun 510 was like a Japanese BMW '02, with its front engine/rear-drive layout, independent rear suspension and revvy OHC motors. (There's a smidge of mkII Cortina about the C-pillar too, isn't there?) Their light weight and tunability made for a successful race proposition, although they're a pretty rare sight in the UK. This 1969 model, Jon Rowe's SSS, is one of the few that you're likely to see competing over here, although it's a regular on the sprint and hillclimb circuit and he likes to stretch its legs. It's beautifully prepared, and it sounds pretty apocalyptic too - SuckSqueezeBangBlow spotted it at Motorsport at the Palace back in May, you can see more photos here.
