'Bagged Golf R32

Words & photos - Daniel Bevis

The watercooled VW scene is an intricate microcosm of fastidious detail, one-upmanship and fashionably branded accessories. And this flawlessly finished mkIV Golf certainly ticks a lot of scene boxes...
While it may appear to be just a lowered Golf on big wheels to the man on the street, V66 PTB has actually had an astonishing amount of work put into it. Under the bonnet is a stage 2-mapped 3.2-litre R32 motor with a full custom Milltek system, putting out around 275bhp. The car sits on AirLift air-ride with AccuAir E-Level management, over a set of unique, custom-built WatercooledInd BL8 forged alloys. The interior's been retrimmed in yellow leather by Plush Automotive, while the exterior has been comprehensively smoothed and repainted, with additions such as Lupo mirrors, Cupra splitter and US-spec taillights. You've probably spotted the Porsche Cayenne calipers at the front too. All in all, then, rather more than just a lowered Golf...
