Goodwood - 72MM

Words & photos - Daniel Bevis

Goodwood offers all manner of treats for the discerning petrolhead. The Festival of Speed marries cutting edge performance machines with old-school racers and fires them up the hill (or through the forest) with gusto. The Revival allows the opportunity to dress up in retro finery and pretend it's sixty years ago, as 250 GTOs roar past at maximum attack. And the Breakfast Club is a more relaxed affair, mixing exciting motors with bleary-eyed bacon munching.
As if that were not stimulus enough, there's a new event on the calendar this year. The 72nd Members' Meeting, held on the last weekend of March, revived a classic name - the first 71 meetings having taken place in the fifties and sixties. Think of 72MM as being like the Revival, but with a broader focus - the timescale is stretched to allow such treats as Group B rally cars and turbocharged eighties F1 cars. Imagine all of that tearing about the historic Goodwood circuit in the beautiful spring sunshine...

SuckSqueezeBangBlow will be zeroing in on individual cars in the coming days and weeks, but if the excitement proves too much, you can see the photos here!
