Bianco Polo 308 GTB

Words & photos - Daniel Bevis

Part of the thrill of attending high-end car events like Salon Privé is not just seeing unique and iconic cars, but specific examples of models that you've heard a lot about but never expected to see: NOX 400R, for instance.
It's unusual enough to see an early fibreglass-bodied Ferrari 308 GTB, but this one, owned by Harry Metcalfe - founder of Evo, serial supercar owner, newly-appointed member of Jaguar Land Rover's 'Engineered To Order' team - is astoundingly original. From its 14" Campagnolos to its rich blue carpets, the car exudes mid-seventies civility. It was ordered in September 1975, a month before the model's official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show, and it's never been restored; just 36,000 miles have passed under those retro wheels, and the 308 proudly wears its original Bianco Polo paint and special-order blue leather interior. A slice of history, and a true beauty to behold.
