Gumball 3000 at the Krispy Kreme

Words & photos: Daniel Bevis

Gumball 3000 is a name you're undoubtedly familiar with - their modus operandi is organising annual international rallies, with a different route each year, for the moneyed supercar classes. It's the kind of event where you'd find XJ220s, MurciƩlagos, C8 Laviolettes and Phantoms rubbing shoulders, resplendent in chromatic Gumball livery, tearing across continents in a maelstrom of cash and horsepower.

...and now they're trying their hand at a few local meets. SuckSqueezeBangBlow was there at the Krispy Kreme in south-west London last night for the inaugural Gumball Get-Together. First to rumble into the car park was a Shelby Daytona coupe, closely followed by an F430 and a Gallardo Spyder on Bahrain plates; hot on their heels were a trio of R8s, a GT3 RS, and all manner of other exotic fare. Car Audio Security's Rotiform'd M3 demonstrator lent the place a nineteen-nineties seaside cruise vibe with its thunderous bassbins, and there were complimentary doughnuts. What more could you want from a free meet?
Keep an eye on gumball3000.com for details of the next one. And if you've got an awesome supercar, be sure to bring it along - you'll be swamped by paparazzi, and someone might slip a Millionaire's Shortbread into your pocket...
