Single-seater Splittie

What do you get if you cross a bay-window VW camper with a McLaren F1? Er... something that looks like an airport ground support vehicle.
This peculiar concoction is one of those because-I-can builds that's always bound to get tongues wagging. Taking a '73 Type 2 as a base, the track has been retained, but everything above and between those chunky box arches has been significantly narrowed. Sitting behind that heavily reworked, grafted-in splittie face is a centrally-located driver's seat, with the steering wheel and pedals artfully repositioned to create a unique driving position. Truly groundbreaking and genuinely odd, this VW had a crowd around it all day at Wheels Day 2013. What do you reckon - brilliant, or baffling?
