Peugeot 205 T16 Evo II

Sitting serenely amongst the trees in a quiet clearing at Chelsea Auto Legends, it's tricky to picture the ferocity and viciousness of the T16 Evo II driving at full-bore on a rally stage. But ferocious and vicious it is, and the evidence abounds to the uninitiated that this is rather far removed from a standard 205 road car. Indeed, the original T16 had a transverse mid-engined 4WD layout, space-frame chassis, an all-in weight of just 960kg, and between 350-450bhp from its 1775cc four-pot, depending on spec. The car you see here is an Evo II, a revised version campaigned from 1985, characterised by its improved (and vast) front and rear spoilers, vaned alloy wheels for improved brake-cooling, a drop in weight to around 910kg, and a power hike up to well over 500bhp.
