Brown Magic 1959

There's something brilliantly sweet about a restored commercial vehicle. This 1959 VW splittie took the Type 2 T1 and reduced it to its basest, most overtly functional format: a single-cab pick-up, as utilitarian as they come. And after half a century of lugging assorted cargo and bric-a-brac, it now finds itself with an arrow-straight load bay and lashings of mile-deep chocolate brown paint. Lucky thing. Further retirement presents include polished Porsche Fuchs wheels, an interior retrim in supple brown leather, and a treat in the tail in the form of a detailed 1835cc engine with twin-40s and Sidewinder exhaust. That's how to grow old gracefully.
