Beetle rims: Fuchs vs. moderns

Porsche wheels are inextricably linked with the aircooled VW scene - 911 Fuchs alloys have adorned Bugs, campers and Karmann Ghias from time immemorial. But is there something to be said for modern Porsche rims on a '69 Beetle, or does it fit more into the general ethos of new wheels on old cars looking somewhat awkward?
You know what? I think these Cayenne alloys work. The ride-height is spot-on to complement their arch-filling size, it's an unusual and interesting idea that has turned out pretty well.
...although I'd still go for the old-school Fuchs wheels. It's just such a timeless look. What do you think, old or new?
