Rally Ascona

When you think of rally Opels, it's the Manta that first springs to mind for most. But the Ascona had its fair share of exposure through the 1970s as well; take this 1972 example - its rasping 1.9-litre four sounds very much at home echoing through the trees. Indeed, an Ascona took third place in the '72 RAC rally at the hands of Anders Kulläng and, if it looked anything like this one, it's not hard to see why - it looks like an all-conquering, furious wasp.
...a furious wasp with bulging haunches and bright shiny eyes. The fact that it's rocking a set of Alleycats is the icing on the cake.
