'07 Mexican Beetle

The Type 1 Beetle was built in Mexico right up until 2003, as you may be aware, with the final 3,000 models being Última Edición-spec with whitewall tyres, CD players and Wolfsburg badges. The car you see here is one of the last to be built before the final run of special editions, if that makes sense - around 3,500ish before the end. As you can see, it's UK-registered on an '07 plate; this isn't too unusual, given the number of niche importers of new-old Beetles and camper vans that are able to register them as new vehicles. The plates probably cause the odd double-take though...
It looks rather civilised for a Beetle, doesn't it? Shiny, flawless paint, a pristine engine bay, comfy Recaros, modern reliability... if you want a Type 1 without compromise, whack 'Mexican Beetle' into eBay or Auto Trader and see what comes up!
