Audi A1 Quattro

Remember the A1 Clubsport Quattro SuckSqueezeBangBlow showed you back in July, the post opening with the words 'Spoiler alert: this is never going to be commercially available'? Well, some of those words are soon to be eaten. What you see here is a commercially available A1 Quattro. OK, it's not quite as ferocious and absurd as that original concept; the 495bhp TT RS five-pot has been replaced with a rather less barking 260bhp 2.0-litre TFSI unit, offering 0-62mph in 5.7s rather than the Clubsport's 3.7, but still, it's a formidable package. Not least in that they're actually making it, just because people like you asked them to.
They're only building 333 examples, all left-hand drive, and you'll need to get in quick: UK import numbers will be based on customer response. And it'll definitely be worth living with a left-hooker when you've got a car this small that has permanent four-wheel drive, a turbo the size of a dinner plate, a proper six-speed manual 'box and will do 152mph. Slap on a set of steels and surprise people at the lights.
