It's pretty common in the VW tuning world to adopt Porsche elements here and there, but the Golf you see here takes this trend to an interesting place. The Vorsche project melded the relatively unmodified externals of a mkII Golf with the engine, drivetrain and suspension from a Porsche 944; the focus of the build was very much on quality, as you can see in the interior (featuring the 944 dash), as well as the impeccably tidy engine install. And, of course, it wasn't just built to prove that it could be done - it was built to be driven. So it's a compact eighties hot hatch with rear-wheel drive, Porsche power and sports car handling. Cunning.
