Edsel Ford's '34 Speedster

Unique, near-mythical cars have a habit of popping up at the Pebble Beach concours d'elegance. What you see here, fresh from a painstaking restoration, is Edsel Ford's very own 1934 Speedster. Based on a '34 Model 40 frame, Edsel got Ford's chief designer of the time, E.T. Gregorie, to pen a fresh design based on styling cues he'd spied in Europe. Stretched slightly and lowered significantly, the cab-rearward design is heavily influenced by contemporary Italian and French cars - but, of course, there's a good ol' Ford flathead V8 under the bonnet!
