Ford Supervans

What do you get if you cross a GT40 with a mkI Transit? Why, Ford's original Supervan, of course! A whacking great GT40-spec V8 sat in a spaceframe with a Transit shell cheekily perched on top. And its successor was just as bonkers - Supervan 2 had 590bhp, could do 0-60 in 3 seconds and 185mph, before presumably hitting an aerodynamic brick wall.

Supervan 3 was built on a C100 race car chassis with a mid-mounted 'HB' F1 engine producing 650bhp. Very silly indeed.

And just for fun, here's another incongruous track monster.
Renault's Espace F1 was built in 1995 by RenaultSport, Williams and Matra with an 800bhp Renault F1 V10 engine. Why? Well, why not?
