Peugeot 207 S16

I've been a bit upset with Peugeot in recent years. They used to make such iconic hot hatches - incredibly capable little 'uns that oozed purpose and menace: 205 GTi, 106 Rallye, 306 S16... but none of that seems possible with the current line-up. They haven't made a good-looking car in ages.

Someone in the marketing department has come up with idea of reviving the S16 name, in order to milk the fact that suddenly everyone knows who Chris Meeke is and possibly shift some butt-ugly 207s. And it doesn't actually look that bad, does it?

It comes with the RC Cup bodykit, 17" wheels and those cool rally graphics as a no-cost option. That's pretty good, right?

Wrong. It's based on the Sport VTi, meaning it's got a rather puny 1.6-litre engine, a mere 120bhp (55bhp less than the awful 207 GTi), and takes a biblical 10.7 seconds to lumber to 60mph. For fuck's sake, Peugeot.
