Aston Martin Rapide

The four-door GT car is a hard one to pull off. You either end up with something as glorious and sublime as the Maserati Quattroporte or as despicable and irksome as the Porsche Panamera.

Aston Martin's forthcoming Rapide seems to have got it right though - it just looks like a four-door DB9. Why mess with a good formula, eh? Somebody should tell Porsche that it is possible to maintain consistent design language across the range, and there are other ways of chasing new customers than deliberately pissing off the existing ones...

With the first customer Rapides being delivered a year from now, AM have released some tantalising images of what the lucky few who've put their deposits down can expect. In addition to the achingly beautiful silhouette, there's a 470bhp 6.0-litre V12 to play with and a handling package honed (where else?) at the Nurburgring. Lovely.
